Linda Rose Tripp was the former White House and Pentagon employee who played a prominent role in the Clinton–Lewinsky scandal of 1998. An American civil servant she leaked the recorded phone calls of Monica Lewinsky about her sexual relationship with then US President Bill Clinton, which led to Bill Clinton’s impeachment in the 1990s. Speaking publicly in 2018, Tripp said she had just one regret: “Not having the guts to do it sooner". -
BIOGRAPHY
Born as Linda Rose Carotenuto in New Jersey, she was an American civil servant and was transferred to the Pentagon in 1987. She was a White House employee in the George H. W. Bush and later in the Bill Clinton administration. She secretly records phone conversations of Lewinsky about her relationship with the president. Tripp in 1998 gave the surreptitiously recorded tapes to then-independent counsel Kenneth Starr in exchange for immunity from prosecution. She defended her move later. -
